  • Men of St. Joseph

    • Join us for our Men of St Jospeh Gathering. We meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month throughout the year, from 8-10 a.m.  We celebrate Mass, followed by a rosary, a full breakfast, keynote by a guest speaker and small group discussion.  Think of this as a short, monthly retreat to help keep you on the straight and narrow! All men of the parish are welcome! We also warmly welcome men who may not yet be parishioners. This is a great opportunity to get to know us while sharing in our devotion to St. Joseph.

    • Let's be clear from the start.  Catholics don't worship the saints when they pray to them.  Jesus alone is worthy of our worship.   We only honor the saints as our heavenly brothers and sisters who have set a holy example for the rest of us.  The Blessed Virgin Mary receives the most honor and respect of all the saints because of her role in salvation history.  St. Joseph is second only to Mary because his role as husband to Mary and foster father of Jesus is unique and special.  In 1870, Pius IX declared St. Joseph to be the patron saint of the universal church.  Leo XIII confirmed the devotion to him after the blessed mother in 1889.  Recently, through the humble porter of Montreal, Brother André Bessette, St. Joseph has intervened in the lives of hundreds of thousands of sick and sinful individuals.  Click the link on the right to learn more about Brother André Bessette's story.

One may argue that there is no greater promoter of St. Joseph than St. Theresa of Avila.  When she was young St. Theresa became gravely ill and eventually fell into a coma.  People took her for dead.  When she awoke four days later, she discovered that she was paralyzed in the legs.  She stayed that way for three years.  It wasn't until she entrusted herself to St. Joseph that she was healed.

Pray to St. Joseph frequently and have faith!    If you are a man, consider joining the Men of St. Joseph and strive to become the man God is calling you to be!

    • Men of St. Joseph Vision Statement

“We are Catholic men supporting each other to emulate the life of St. Joseph by building a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and leading our families to Him”.

    • The Men of St. Joseph at St. Catherine of Siena Parish

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."  (Heb 10:23 – 25)

Are you tired of going through the motions?  Is your Catholic faith dull or non-existent?  Do you want to be a better man, single, husband, or father? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions then you must attend the Men of St. Joseph!

We meet on the 2nd Saturday of the month, from 8-10 a.m.  We celebrate Mass, followed by a rosary, a full breakfast, keynote by a guest speaker and small group discussion.  Think of this as a short, monthly retreat to help keep you on the straight and narrow!

Through the intercession of St. Joseph and supported by strong friendships with other Catholic men, we toss aside our excuses and strive to become real men who love Jesus and take our faith and vocation seriously.  We are committed together to grow in faith and holiness through our common commitment to the Five Promises and the Covenant.

    • What is the Covenant? What are the 5 Promises?

The 'Covenant' is the following pledge a man may take to help commit himself to God and to his family:
I know that becoming a Man of St. Joseph is a process, and i will accept all grace and strength available through Jesus.  I hereby agree to live by this Covenant which i make in the resence of my brothers. I promsie to try to live a life of conversion, integrity and honnesty and to act as a witness for Christ in my daily work, social parish and family life; to be welcoming and compassionate to all I meet; and to walk on this spritual journey in the company of my Christian brothers. I will attempt to live out this unique apostolate by the following promises:

      1. Dedicate your life to the Lord. / Participate in Sunday Mass (with your family if you have one)
      2. Grow in Christian discipleship / Develop a personal prayer life and attend weekday Mass once a month.
      3. Live with integrity and honesty.
      4. Be faithful to your promary vocation / Experience the Sacrament of Reconcilation twice a year.
      5. Meet together with brrothers / Attend Men of St. Joseph meetings at your parish and gather together with other men for annual and seasonal conferences.

    • What are the steps one must take to make this commitment?

Men are invited to sign the Covenant in the presence of his brothers and thereby agrees to try and keep the Five Promises for one year.

Each year thereafter, a man is invited to renew the Covenant, and in so doing, strive to become the men, fathers, husbands, or singles Christ is calling us to be.

    • Prayer to St. Joseph

Saint Joseph, protector and guide of Jesus Christ, assist me with the help of your intercessions to be a man of integrity, honesty, and dignity. May I imitate you in discipleship as a brother, husband, father and son. Pray that I may receive the gifts necessary to be a healer, teacher, mento, and missionary to a world in need of the Gospel. As you once promised to watch over the Christ child, pray that through the grace of the Holy Spirit, I too may keep my promises to watch and protect all those the Lord has given to me.
