Join us for our Women of Mary Gathering. We meet on the 1st Saturday of the month from 8-10 a.m. We celebrate Mass, followed by a rosary, a light breakfast, keynote by a guest speaker and small group discussion. Think of this as a short, monthly retreat to help keep you on the straight and narrow! All women of the parish are welcome! We also warmly welcome women who may not yet be parishioners. This is a great opportunity to get to know us while sharing in Marion devotion.
Today we light the Bethlehem Candle, also called the Candle of Preparation. God kept his promise of a Savior who would be born in Bethlehem. Preparation means to "get ready." Help us to be ready to welcome You, O God! (Luke 3:4-6)
The Service of Lessons and Carols had its origin at Truro Cathedral (England) on Christmas Eve, 1880, when the Bishop of Truro, F.W. Benson, developed a service of scripture readings and supporting carols. Some 38 years later in 1918, this format was adapted for Christmas at Kings's College Chapel, Cambridge, England. The BBC broadcast from King's College helped to popularize the Service of Lessons and Carols, which Cathedrals and small churches throughout the world quickly duplicated. The heart of the service continues to this day - that is, the retelling of the Christians' story of faith from the fall of Adam to the coming of the Word Incarnate.
Lessons in carols and more! All students in grades 9-12 are welcome to attend Youth Group where there is a time for prayer, formation, service and to gather in friendship.
To educate the faithful on Eucharistic teaching, we will be reading and discussing The Hidden Manna by Msgr. James T. O'Connor. This in-depth study lets the breadth and richness of the Church's Tradition speak for itself. Fr. O'Connor presents and comments on substantial excerpts from the major sources of the Church's Tradition extending all the way back to apostolic times. Focusing on the doctrine of the Real Presence, he follows the earliest witnesses through the challenge in the Middle Ages of Berengarius through the Protestant Reformation and modern disputes.
Please join us on Friday December 13 as your Knights of Columbus Marian Council 5748 present a Family Movie Night for the Christmas Season. We will show "It's a Wonderful Life" at 7 PM in the Church hall and children are welcome to bring sleeping bags and pajamas. Popcorn and juice will be provided.
St. Catherine's Men of St. Joseph will meet Saturday, June 8 for an 8 a.m. Mass, followed by the rosary. A full breakfast will be served in the Church Hall with a guest speaker. Any adult male is invited. For questions, please contact Ron Latouche OFS at 669-2674.
We welcome all married couples of our parish to this collaborative meal. New couples are always welcome! Following our potluck dinner, we reflect on the Sacrament of Marriage through Scripture, readings, or meditations relating to our call and vocation of Christian Marriage.
Our Edge program will meet on Sunday afternoons from 4 to 5:30 pm in the school gym! Each night will have a different theme about our faith, and will challenge our youth to grow in a deeper relationship with our Lord. Some of the Edge Nights will be preperation evenings for the Sacrament of Confirmation. All students in Grades 6-9 are invited to attend, even our Catholic School students!
Christmas party. Dinner: potluck. All students in grades 6-12 are welcome to attend Youth Group where there is a time for prayer, formation, service and to gather in friendship.
Today we light the Angel Candle, or the Candle of Love. The angels announced the good news of a Savior. God sent his only Son to earth to save us, because he loves us! (John 3:16-17)
Movie and babysitting. All students in grades 9-12 are welcome to attend Youth Group where there is a time for prayer, formation, service and to gather in friendship.
With Parish Choir. This is a non-incense Mass. Today you will know that the Lord will come, and he will save us, and in the morning you will see his glory (Ex 16:6-7).
The white candle that we light today is referred to as the Christ Candle. The while reminds us that Jesus is the spotless lamb of God, sent to wash away our sins. His birth was for his death, his death was for our birth! (John 1:29)
